Awards Dinner Update

Hi all,
I received a Striders email Saying they have a few spots left for the dinner, so I thought I should confirm with you who is on the MTG Table I have booked, so if anyone else wants to come along, or bring somone, there's still time to do so.
I have counted in Bruce, Denise, Lee, Leonor, Paula and Tank Engine, Peter, Sharyn, Ted and myself.
Those of us doing the Half on Sunday should try and meet before the start so we can take off together. Denise and i ran the course on Saturday afternoon and I'm happy to say the hills, up from Lady Macquarie's Chair, Hunter St and the Argyle Cut seemed so much less daunting than this time last year. It should be a good run!
Enjoy the week
Margaret

Hi. Yes, I'm in for the dinner. After my abysmal performance at the last 10k where I went slower than usual rather than faster I'm not sure what my time will be like for the 1/2. I was going to try for a new PB but who knows.

Also, I spent 3 days at the Happiness & its causes conference in Sydney. Fascinating stuff. A lot of amazing scientific analysis of brain function and neuroplasticity and the psychology of happiness. I'll tell you about it when I see you.

Dear Margaret,
Needless to say I will not be running on sunday but will be there so I'm happy to act as support crew , gopher etc for anyone who needs it. Anyone can let me know on 0427476409 or in "comments". Not sure whether striders will have a presence or not.Fancy having a daughter who plays the real football ????

I am in for dinner. I am also going for a run tomorrow somewhere around 9.30am if anyone is about and interested!

Bruce I hope your PB is not faster than my PB cause I am interested in what you learnt and I want to apply it by a) having a PB (this will actually involve me remembering what my PB is over 21 kms) and b) staying with you so I find out about the conference

Meant to add happiness and its causes - my six year old being awake at 5.50 am on Mothers Day to give me my present - and this from the girl who slept in on Christmas Day and her birthday. Aren't I lucky?

Hey Ted, that's great to hear from you! A familiar face on the sidelines is always very uplifting, so that's good to know you'll be there. I was going to suggest that those who are interested could meet outside the Museum on College St at about 7am for a bit of pre-race whatever.
Otherwise you could sleep in and Spot the Strider at a more civilised time at the finish line.
Denise, I'd be happy to run at 9.30 tomorrow, but it depends a bit where...
Bruce, now you're talking PBs and the secrets of happiness, I think you're going to have quite a following on Sunday.
Happiness, it's a big question. If we were trying to survive in Rangoon right now, a couple of sheets of plastic, some clean water and a bowl of rice would probably do it. It's a mad world.

Hi

If Sean is OK (he was away from school today), Paula and I were thinking of Hunters Hill. Paula will call me at 7.30 am and let me know. If Paula can come maybe if we meet at 10 (I am sure Paula and I can have coffee somewhere first and afterwards!) and you can join us?

If Paula can't come I am happy to meet at Neutral Bay, and I shall text you...

Hi Ted. Glad you made it back safely and look forward to hearing about your trip.

I'll try not to mangle the content of the Happiness course too much Denise. My PB is 1:56, but as I haven't managed to fix my russel yet I'm not looking too good to beat that at present.

Margaret knows point no. 1 in the happiness course. Keep in mind how good things really are and don't let trivial things like someone ducking into a car spot in front of you or being rude outweigh the very very good life we lead, even compared with a lot of people here, much less in Rangoon. See you all soon.

Great to hear from you all - hey i can feel a new excitement in the year ... there must be a race coming up!

I'd love to join you - see if i can find you all. And yes I will be wearing my Strider Shirt (no orange balloon this time).

See you all on Sunday
Cheers
Leonor
