Smithfield!

I love Smithfield!! Yes I Paula McCormack DID write that!
I just got a SMS telling me that I won a pair of Nike shoes in their lucky draw thing. Apparently I have to call and give my addresss - and, I hope, my shoe size. Otherwise I will withdraw my love for the SMC if I get a pair of Men's size 14 Nikes!

I'll let you know how I go.

Thanks again to Bruce for dragging me through the last 7/8kms of the run today. The highlight was definitely the (approx) 20km mark and your sharing your ipod and "too sexy" being on. A truly FABULOUS moment in sport.

To be 45 seconds over the 4.30 pace time is something I really am happy with. I have run 75.5kms since Tuesday. AND if we add last Sunday in - a whopping 110.5kms in eight days.

Phil - how much of a factor is the high weekly mileage in our ability to maintain pace in the later part of these runs?

Had a really nice afternoon playing ladies at a high tea with girlfriends. At the end of it they were all ready to lay on the floor completely STUFFED with food. I was probably just content! Got to love the re-fuelling needed after 30kms!! If only social norms could have allowed me to jamm the food down my gob as quick as I really wanted to. Must also confess that the one glass of Champagne with said afternoon-tea did leave me feelling very very silly for a while!

I will now do a new post re Good Friday.

Hey Paula
I'm glad to hear you sounding justifiably happy with yesterday's run. You should be, shoes or not!
I had a similar food experience myself. We were invited to a barbie with a bunch of Nick's school mates and their families yesterday evening and while most of the women were nibbling on crackers and dips I was knocking back the marinated beef, hoi sin pork, sausages and whatever else was offered to me. My sole conversation consisted of "Yes please". I was starving! Must have made a peculiar impression.
I was determined not to mention my training, but to my surprise Jean-Marc did, I thought he was completely over it. i had a really interesting talk to a guy who's done some triathalons who was surprised by our high mileage at this point. So I emailed Phil to just make sure the 35k will not spell doom for us novices.
have a nice lazy Monday

I've joined the blog. New experience for me so be patient. Thanks for the invite to join Paula.

I had a shocker yesterday as Alicia and John will agree. Just too tired and as the run went on felt progressively worse. I seriously did not want to run to the finish and only through John and Alicia did I bother, thanks guys i was very grateful for your encouragement. It is amazing how you can go from running a 35k so strongly and then crash on a 30k. I was dead all day yesterday. No party for me.

The rest of the team ran really well though.

Good news about Leonor. Bad news about Sharyn, 5 stitches is no small injury. I'm impressed you can still run.

I'll see you all for the 35k on Good Friday.
