As Bruce and Sean have been too modest or too busy to blog, most of you may know that they did a PB on the GC marathon! Knocked an amazing 14 or so minutes off their Canberra time & they were walking along the beach the next day looking great. (I know this cause I saw two guys in "I did 42 km " tshirts....and thought I know them).
So obviously Bruce has struck a winning formula - fluey, undertrained and busy at work!

GO THE BOYS....Great effort :o)
Not sure about going for Gold, but we were certainly Coast ing at the end. We weren't trying to but it was a 15 minute split for the last 2.2k's. You do the math. We had consistent 28-29 minute splits to the 25k and 31 mins to the 30k. To that point it was a cake walk, then it started to go downhill while the course stayed flat.
The second Marathon was much much easier than the first. Not sure if it was because we knew we could do it, because the course was so flat (seriously - flatter than Canberra if you can imagine that) or because after all of the StARs we didn't really think about it as a Marathon until between the 25 and the 30k. The recovery was much better / quicker too.
So much so that we've registered for the M7 Marathon on 27/7 - so we wont be around to help lead the MTG if thats OK Leonor? We couldn't resist the temptation to see if it gets easier again, although with only a 3 week gap I'm not sure it will be.
For those of you doing the King and Queen of the Mountain tomorrow, good luck. I'll see anyone going out to Berowra to do the Bip Dipper 25k option with the MTG. I'm not sure, but at H5, if may not be that much of an easier option than KQoM.
Cheers
M7 Marathon?! You guys are unbelievable! Once again , good luck!
Unbelieveable - is that code for foolhardy?
We are planning to run it at a reasonably quick pace to avoid staying on our feet any longer than necessary, but not at a full race pace. I wouldn't have the endurance at this stage.
Hope the Big D was good yesterday. I ended up piking out due to a big work load, a family luncheon function, and general tiredness which doesn't augur too well for M7 - but what they hey - we can't finish it if we don't start it!
See you all soon.

Hmm, I piked out of the Big D too, without the excuse of a Marathon the week before or a family commitment or anything else. It was the H5 warning that kept me away!
Its not piking out - its just making sure we peak at the right time! See you at Harbourside Hike where we literally run past my driveway - help me not to run up it!
