Running never felt so good (not!)

I had a great run yesterday - 23 kms along the Harbour - no map reading needed as this area is Margaret's backyard but when I got home I wanted to go to sleep.

It felt like 35kms or I am just getting older ? Please tell me you felt the same and I will know it's not just me!

I am away the next 2 weekends - so see you in Woodford...

I know what you mean Denise! I didn't feel it so much yesterday, but certainly did after that run at Cherrybrook a couple of weeks ago.
I think a couple of factors can affect how you pull up(...please note the use of runner's jargon here, nothing to do with what you put on a toddler when they're potty training...). The cold can have a really negative impact, as can the rain. It's having to cope with exposure as well as the run that can cause trouble. And sometimes my head's just not in the right place.
Yesterday was a fun one for me because I know the area, and that seems to make quite a big difference when it's wet or whatever.
So, when I'm in London I will be checking out the marathon course so that when the time comes and we're being snowed on, I'll know what's around the next corner, then the next and before we know it we'll be over the line and celebrating! Sounds like a plan!
Bruce, I'm so sorry about running on without you yesterday. You are always very considerate of others, I know you've hang around for me a few times. I thought the MTG was close behind us and had the feeling you'd be running with them. I hope your hamstring is on the mend.
Good luck at the Gold Coast for those giving it a go.
Enjoy the rest day today.
I will be away for the next five weeks, my trip away with my Dad then off to the snow with the family.
My running will suffer I know, as without the encouragement of our group my commitment to training tends to waiver. I'll miss everyone! Next Striders run for me will be July 20th.
See you then
Margaret

I didn't even make the 23km Sunday and I'm meant to be almost ready for the Gold Coast. Whats going on here! Why is my running going backwards!

Have fun in London Margaret. Should be fantastic. No worries about Sunday. There were so many different groups running so many different directions it was very easy to end up split up.

See you both when you are back.

I can relate. I feel like a baby elephant. I have managed to string 3 x 10kms together over the long w/end. Absolutely no rhythmn and feel like I am going up and down on the spot. Hey, but at least I'm out there trying! Hang in there everyone! The corner is coming...

Fab Five and Friend - I can only say, what does not kill you makes you stronger!!

I had enough of the rain too - trust me. I just think it will boost our immune system ... and I always try to think about this hot chocolate awaiting at the end of the run (and the hot shower :)

Have a great holiday Margaret and enjoy - how exciting!

See you all soon
