Where was the Kenyan?

Hi all
That was some run yesterday! Just as I'd spent the week basking in the afterglow of a half marathon that felt pretty relaxed, along came Cherrybrook to wipe away my complacency! I don't know if it was the cold or the bush hills or probably a combination of both but I was sore and exhausted after that one. Where was the Kenyan in me when I needed it most?
I realise that before I start dreaming of high fiving smiling kids as I run through villages on my way to completing the Comrades Marathon, I have a very long way to go.
I also realised, standing near Helen Wilson, that I would need to loose about 10 kilos of useless bulk to be at a good weight for ultra running.
Anyway, enough self pity. I have cakes to cook for our STaR!
Have a great week
Margaret

I was going to say I was right behind you, but given that I was absolutely shattered at the end of a mere 21k it wouldn't ring true. There are some hard yards to do over the next few weeks to make the Gold Coast work. At least Bruce F said you should only train hard for 6 weeks.

Jim said the Striders would run a C(omrades) T(raining) G(roup) if we wanted support to do the Comrades. Maybe we could work towards using Sydney or Melbourne as the step up runs for a longer running training program for the Comrades? See you all soon.

Jambo Jambo Guys!

You made me smile Margaret - so funny. Believe me you looked great and you look very resourceful. Bring the comrades on!!

Just letting you all know all the Strider gear is safely in our 'bodega' (wine cellar). When I came home with the loaded car, I asked Peter to kindly give me hand. His answer was: "Leonor - what's all this gear - and I thought your guys were running!" Ha, he does not know all the food we can possibly eat after our long runs ...

Denise - peace of mind - the gear is safe. Just need to give it a rinse.

Bruce - sorry I was too exhausted to have a look at your most impressive list. Would you mind emailing it to me please :) and thanks to you and Sean for your help.

Paula - thank you so much for the nice hot tea - the sweetest tea I've ever had - so welcome :)

Guys our time has come to say thank you to the MTG for all their support - we will be fine and we got a great list to follow. If anyone gets stressed or needs a last minute hand - just give me a call and I'll come running to help out.

Lee - I hope you did find your way back to the city

Have a great week everyone and remember this Sunday all hands on deck :)

Hell, that was some run aye. I found myself running with Rose, a new member on her first ever Star, so thought I'd chat and make her feel welcome. Turned out that Rose comes from a family of Iron Men/Woman and has muscles on top of muscles. Jeeze, she bolted up those rocks, with me in tow...just! It was good to be pushed, but boy am I sore now.
On Sunday, what time should I arrive? We don't run do we? If not, I'll just wear warm clothes and my CRUSADERS jersey :o). Will be nice to just chat anyway.
OK, spot you all on Sunday and a MASSIVE thanks to Paula for guiding me home after the run.
Lee :o)

Hi ladies & gents I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to help on the weekend. I just live up the road and while I'm not running I'd like to get some brownie points up.Call 0427476409 or comment

The Comrades qualifying time on their web site is a sub 5 hour marathon. As they have picked that time, presumably their experience is that if a runnder can do that they can complete the Comrades.

Ted,

If there is any way you can run the 30k for Sean and I and let our legs have the credit towards the Gold Coast - that would be much appreciated. We need the help.

I'll see you after the run if you are coming down.
