THIS IS EB ON DEBOO(T)

I can't believe the time of day most of you are on the keyboard. I'm soooooo glad I've left the anklebiters behind a long while ago !!!
The end of daylight saving has been momentous. Daylight saving is dead . Long live daylight saving. At least one knee I know of agrees with me. But seriously I feel like I've got an extra hour to spend every day .
ATTENTION TO DETAIL --------------------FOR SUNDAY
Make sure you've cut and trimmed your toenails. Don't pull off any loose ones. It will be tender under there. Let them come off there of their own free will. If you've got other foot or toe problems see a podiatrist straight away and tell them what you're doing. They will tape up those bits that need it and leave the stuff you'll need to protect your feet. By all means use some runners foot cream but I don't recommend it on the day (until after the run).

Don't put your socks on inside out ! (easy to do if you do it in the dark) . If you do your feet won't thank you at the end of 42.

Don't forget to put your timing chip well down your laces and check that your laces are well and truly done up properly. Nothing is worse than having to stop and do them up once you're in THE ZONE.

Take it quietly going up or down stairs on race morning!

Put bandaids on your nipples ( not sure whether the girls need to do this ) but blood all over your singlet as you cross the line for a PB is not a good look!

Don't forget the VASELINE if you have a habit of chafing--42km is a long way to run if you're uncomfortable. It's good for lips too.

YOU GUESSED IT------------------- I'VE LEARNT ALL THIS FROM EXPERIENCE.

"education is what you get from reading the fine print ---- experience is what you get when you don't " Just ask the the clients of OPES PRIME.

Great advice as ever Ted, thank you. I can't believe how much my running knowledge has improved since joining The Striders, thanks to the likes of Ted, Phil and all the other Striders I've chatted to. Sadly though, my map reading skills still suck, hence my 'no show' on Sunday. After the high of knocking nearly 2mins of my PB for Lane Cove (wasn't meant to race, sorry Phil)I hit a massive low on Sunday morning when I couldn't find Buffalo creek :o( I came home and went to bed feeling absolutely stink. I really suck at reading maps and have only made the start of the MTG runs by complete luck. But hopefully, I'll find Canberra on Saturday. Is it up, down or inland? Lee ;o)

Hey Ted
A big welcome to our lovely pink blog - it's great to have more of the wise men amongst us.
Don't be alarmed by the post times - it's some bizzare time-zone that none of us could ever work out. But maybe this being taper week we'll have the time to investigate....

Anyway - all worthy tips I shall take them all on board.

Lee - just follow the stench b*llsh#t coming from parliament house and you should find Canberra no worries!

Ted - you're a genious! Thank you for all your hints. I really appreciate it.

Lee - if I(coming all the way from Switzerland)can read maps (had to learn to read maps!)to find my way to the STaRs all over the place in Sydney, then it should be easy for you to find Canberra :)

Good luck and have a safe trip

I got lost too Lee, but managed to find it in the end. I'm just glad there's no map-reading involved on race day or I'd be dead meat.
Thanks for the tips Ted. I haven't dared look at my feet lately, not since i lost a few toenails somewhere around the middle of the programme.
Hey Paula, I like your directions re. Canberra...follow your nose! I got very lost trying to find Telopea Park when Denise and I checked out the course, it was dark when we met and I had no idea at all where i was. I had to keep ringing Denise for directions. so give yourself plenty of time to find it Lee.

I'de say thats Gold on Debut.

I've been using BodyGlide rather than bandaids, but I might go back to the old bandaids. Those bleeding nipples and blood soaked singlet on that rainy day in Drummoyne in January just came flooding back to me.
