They have been in hard training for years.....running away from mummy when it's time to put shoes on; escaping at shopping centres; running to hide in far corners of playgrounds; running and screaming (Bruce!) when it's time to wash hair.
That's how I got fit...chasing after them.

Sharyn, you have quite a crowd to chase! I can relate to that, I think one of my biggest motivators to get fit has been to keep up with Dan. At my ripe old age I had to do something!
Won't tomorrow morning be great! I am really looking forward to not having to feel my through the first few ks.
See you all at Buffalo Creek...yet another corner of Sydney I am about to discover thanks to the Striders!
That is a very cute little crowd you have there Sharyn. That you chase them isn't the issue, that you can do that and train is really soemthing else. Best years of your life having little humans around.
I'm being careful - very. Into the last week and I don't want any sort of excuse. No colds, no sore back, no maximus problems, I just want to glide into the 36th km and feel like I can kick in some pace. That 36th km will be where I have never been before so really looking forward to that horizon.
We had a great run this morning at Lane Cove. I ran very comfortably and could feel the strength in my legs. Karen, Ted, Lee and Phil ran. Lee and Ted put in blistering times. I think Karen and I ran about our usual bests. I felt as strong at the finish as I did at the start so I know my legs are sare in great shape. And all those pains I've had over the last 3 months have gone away as well. Bruce came to the finish line to greet each MTG member as they crossed the finish line and that was very enjoyable.
I am kind of quielty confident about Canberra but the memory of the 30k race at Smithfield has made me very respectful of climbing my personal Mt Everest. I am a bit apprehensive because I know it is a very fine balance between speed and endurance and in the rarifed atmosphere of 36 km's and beyond I'm just not sure how it will go. I will not be pleased if I have to walk so I am pacing myself for a run all the way.
Look forard to seeing the group tomorrow. I can tell you that getting your legs moving is very pleasant after the constrictions of the taper. Keep well!
