Is There Anything Missing?

I've taken Phil's advice and packed my running bag tonight (Thursday) allowing me the chance to pick up anything I've forgotten tomorrow. So here's a list and a picture, please let me know if I've missed anything :o)

1. Fuel belt (still undecided on my fluid strategy, as I don't like stopping).
2. Two hats.
3. Navman, inhaler and preventer.
4. After race towel.
5. Sydney Strider running vest.
6. Two pairs of running socks.
7. Two sweat bands.
8. Box of jelly beans/snakes.
9. Sunglasses.
10. 2XU running compression shorts for race.
11. Post run Crusaders shirt (There's an All-Blacks one under it, in case I choke and don't finish)
12. Old t-shirt to wear to start line, then discard.
13. Old socks to keep hands warm at start then discard.
14. Split time wristband. 03:55:00 (fingers crossed)
15. New Zealand passport for ACT/NSW border crossing.
16. 3 x GU.
17. Round plasters for nipple protection.
18. Deep Heat for pre-race Achilles (great tip from Phil)
19. Bepanthan for any chaffing.
20. 2XU long compression tights for drive home.
21. Tommy Cooper book, as I won't be sleeping much on Saturday night.
22. Old runners for to-and-from Canberra.
23. Current runners for race.
24. Endura for yet to be decided race fluid strategy.
25. Shorts to wear over tights when we stop for food, on way home in small town OZ ;o)

Is there anything I've forgotten? It's just Felix and I tomorrow, so I can do a last minute shop.

Thanks in advance, Lee 708

Fantastic Lee. I'd get rid of that Crusaders jersey though. You may not get out of Canberra alive. I'm happy to lend you one of my Brumbies ones (even got some in kids sizes).

Oh yeah....maybe a garbage bag to wear as a rain coat (and wind protector) pre race. Someone gave me one in England as I lined up for a half marathon in summer and it started to snow. It was brilliant. You throw it away once the race starts.

Lee, as someone who loves to prepare, you're making me very excited. Not only a double-check, but a blog post to make sure you haven't missed anything! I'm rushing off to pack my stuff now..

A couple of comments on your gear:
1) Can't see sunglasses - it's meant to be sunny on Sunday
2) Forget post-race shirts - there's only one shirt you'll be wearing on Sunday afternoon. It has something like "FINISHER" written on it, I reckon.
3) If you're looking for some inspiration, write your name on cardboard and pin it on the front and/or back of your shirt. Given you may be running on your own, you'll get lots of crowd support if they know your name. Sounds like an activity you can do with your son tomorrow!
4) Don't plan on driving too soon after the race - cramping is normal and driving a little dangerous. I'm not sure how the compression tights go, but I'm sure they look pretty hot.

Great suggestion of garbage bag Sharyn. I remember standing in the rain waiting for the 06 Melbourne Marathon to start (they delayed it 15 mins) and it was pretty cold and aweful.

You're just great, Lee. I laughed and smiled all the way reading and looking at your gear. Well done, Mr Triathlon!! You just brought memories of my first triathlon back to me. You're very organised.
Agree with Sharyn, I've got the raincoat (kind of transparent, cheapy plastic from Kathmandu to throw away) also lined up with my gear - just to keep your body warm.

Only one thing missing Lee - or not actually missing but yet to be added - your smile when you cross that finish line!

Ahm ... did you think to pack your lucky bringer?

I've just put mine in the bag - it's a littly tiny teddy bear when I was 3 years old ... it's always with me for special occasions, like exams, going for interviews etc ...

Thanks guys for the help. I'll chuck a bin bag in tomorrow.
I have no idea what a Batman is Ted, is it something like a Batty Boy? I hope not LOL.
Leonor, great tip about the bringer. I'm just about to print off a wee picture of Ade, Jarvis and Felix to tape to the underside of my race number, so they are close to me when I run. If i feel like I can't make it, then I'll have a look at my babies.
