Hi Fab Five and Friends
I need your valuable advice.
My family is keen to come and support us on Sunday and call 'GO STRIDER'. They were just wondering which would be the best location to encourage us all.
I can only guess as from 30 - 35 onwards ??? I just printed the course for them.
Any help from experienced marathon runners and future marathon champs would be most welcome.
I'm so excited - I feel like telling the world, I will be running my first marathon on Sunday, I will be running my first marathon on Sunday ... :)
Talk soon

Hi Leonor
At this stage I think Ian & the kids are going to stand at the beginning of Parkes Way - we are going to find a spot of Friday - but I think there they can see us several times (we will be so speedy I want to give them plenty of chances in case they miss me the first time!)
Phil said that on Sat @ 2 he was going to suggest some spots...
One thing I found from Sydney Mara was that I was really lifted by the kids presence (and the warm jelly beans Katie handed me) and so I think it's good to have your cheer squad placed somewhere around the 30 km mark when it may be getting a bit hard. This will still give them time to get back to the finish!
Hey everyone got another song for you : "I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it, I'm about to run a marathon in 4 30 and I think I like it..."
Hi Leonor,
on the CM website you can look at the 'spectator info' tab for information.
Alternatively I will be bringing information on Saturday - my wife Fiona is in charge of "spectators" for the weekend - she will bring a map and information on where to stand to watch the race!
Phil
Hi Leonor
I think like Denise, around 30k would be a good time to see a familiar face. My crowd won't be in Canberra till sometime Sunday morning(?) depending on how late they all sleep in at the farm. I could well be languishing in the recovery tent by the time they arrive! I'll print them off a map and call them Saturday evening to arrange a spot. Hopefully their map-reading skills are superior to mine or my chances of seeing them are zippo!
On the subject of songs...if everything inspirational is falling on deaf ears by 35k, I thought I'd sing myself Business Time. Does anybody know that one? It is hysterical, by this NZ comedy duo called Flight of the Conchords. It's on Youtube, so if you don't know what to do with yourself in all your spare time, and find tidying the house an unattractive option, have a look at it.
Great Everyone, thank you so much for your hints. I printed a map and the CM course for them. And advised to be especially nice to all the Striders and cheer them al the way through.
Guys, am so nervous... a bit panic, excitement, gee a bit of everything I think.
Yay, last day at work today!
Cu you all
