Today's to-dos:
* Start your carb-loading if you haven't already
* Stop exercising (except for one run of 2-3kms on Saturday)
* Start your mental preparation (start to visualise the race and break it down into components - especially if you are going to be running your own race and may not have support of a group to run with)
* Plan your weekend - leave plenty of time for everything. Make it a stress-free weekend (yes, even those with kids)
* Clear a space on the wall for your medal (positive thoughts)
* Pack your bags tonight
Hope the nerves are treating you well - I ran my 7kms last night and it fel like everything was hurting - funny how the mind plays tricks on you.

Hey guys
I'm still healthy!!!
Phil - it must be the beroccas I started on Monday morning.
I did run a (race pace) 5km today. I was finally able to drop(kick!) No. 1 Son to school and I decided that I NEEDED to run. There was way too much shouty horrible Mummy behaviour happening. Shouty Mummy often = a Mummy in need of endorphines.
Anyway - it was just lovely to run at a nice pace and reflect on the last 23 weeks. I actually had a little tear in my eyes as I started the last kilometer. Thank heavens someone I knew got on the stepper next to me and started chatting. I may have really embarrassed myself. Such soppy sentiment is the domain of the blog. So here I am... :-)
I am officially Very very very excited about this race now.
And thanks again Phil for the "To Do" lists - a stressed woman likes a task and to plan
How nice - you speak from my heart, Paula - i feel the same. One minute I feel so excited, then nervous, then can't wait to be Sunday and a bit sad to know soon everything will be over... oh dear, these feelings.
And I'm sure a lot of us will feel the same way. 23 weeks is a long time and you get to know each other quite well.
But we will celebrate THE BIG DAY together and run it to make it the best we can.
Phil - thank you for the to do list - so helpful. I do not know what we do without your tremendous support ...
Started the loading - feels a bit funny though, but I trust this is the right thing to do.
See you all soon
Margaret and I took the opportunity to do our last run together today. We ran to Georges Heights, admired the view, admired each other's non Strider tops, complained everything hurt, complained we only got a rythmn when we were about to finish, carb loaded and coffee loaded.
The only things missing were Bruce's songs, about 35 odd kms and you lot - See you all soon
Hi everyone.
Sean and I went for our last run last night. He broke in his new Striders singlet. I felt like I was breaking in a new body. Everything hurt. I'm glad its not just me. Now that thats out of the way I'm hoping Sunday will be a ripper.
Keep on the Berroca Paula. Its one of my placebo's of choice, along with echanacia and a selection of multi-vitamins.
I'm glad everyone is well. For a while there I was worried that everyone wasn't going to make it, but its looking good.
I have so much work on at the moment its hard to get excited, but your excitement is keeping me focussed.
My plan is to tap into that vibe Saturday night / Sunday morning and then just run on that.
With you guys all so in the zone, I figure as long as I make the pasta party that will give me enought time to block out work, enter a running trance and start chanting the sacred words "Ghost Rider Ghost Rider" to call down the ancient spirits of the MTG and use my wonder twin ring to channel the magical Power of Phil's Fab Five and Friends and take the shape of a marathon runner.
As Lionel Richie famously said of his first Marathon, which started at 6am in the Northern winter:
We were running with the night,
Playing in the shadows
Just you and I
Till the morning light,
We were running, oh, oh
Running with the night
You were looking so good girl
Heads were turning
As we passed the 12k mark.
I think we are going to have to be VERY careful on Saturday night or the pasta party could just turn into a pre-race celebratory piss-up! Everyone is getting pretty excited. I'm gonna leave that red wine at home.
I can't wait to hear more of the Lionel Richie lyrics. What a man! Don't make them like that anymore.
I'm off to have my half litre(?) of sports drink.
Bye for now
Margaret
Oh Margaret - you've replaced one red for another (at least with sports drink you can drink a whole bottle and feel ok!)
