Was It Really That Far!

It was great to run again with all you guys at Wahroonga. I just plotted the route on Map My Runs and glad that I did post and not pre-run, as it's a bloody long way eh! Enjoyed it though, as it was heaps cooler and the comapny was, as ever, wonderful.

As a late comer to the group, I thought I'd upload a couple of pictures of the family, who are Adrienne, Jarvis and Felix, and are all busting to meet you at The Canberra Marathon. The pictures of Jarvis are from a couple of weeks ago, when he wanted to be a runner like his Mumma and Dah. He's wearing a combination of Adrienne and mines running gear. I think we might have a junior Strider in the making here.

Yes it was that far! On the way back from the Central Coast today I turned off the F6 into Waroogah and saw the sign "22 km to Sydney" and we did more than that (didn't we Paula!!)

Looking forward to a lttle 25kms next week and I for one will be going for coffee and a dip in the ocean afterwards if anyone else is interested....

And please add to your diary the Star - North Ryde Ramble on June 1.

I am going to see who wants to run it beforehand so we look like we know what we are doing and calling for volunteers from everything to picking up the Striders Sign the week before (you can hang it over your bed for a week - that should get everyone excited) to food...

I sometimes find those maps a bit disturbing. I prefer to think of it as hours in conversation rather than in kilometers covered.

When I see a map like that I occassionally think to myself, "that's crazy, you can't run that far", which is very negative, whereas I know I can very easily carry on a conversation for 4 to 4.5 hours, during which time we may well happen to run 35 or 42.2km, but thats bye the bye.

1 June is locked in. We've had a few mini practices and I've no doubt we can do a good STaR. I'm intrigued to see what this vegan STaR will look like this Sunday. Maybe we could have a special food theme too, although I have no idea what it would be.
