Hi All
Need to share my sorrows. I'm injured and so upset (yes I had a cry - even in the office). Went to see my physio this morning and she's taken me off the road for 8 days ... My dear Fab Five and Friends, I just had to share this with you. My tears were just running down my cheeks (of course after I left the physio).
I have not been crying in months like today ... My biggest dream was to qualify for the Boston Marathon next year and then this news today - I was shattered. Well at the moment I'm just hoping that my Sacral Illiac Joint injury heals well and I'll be able to join you all very soon. Please run for me on Sunday and say a little prayer for me.
Take care
Leonor

Leonor, I'm so sorry to hear that! But keep your chin up! You have been running really well, so 8 days rest in a programme as long as ours should be OK.
It is a huge ask of yourself to qualify for Boston on your first attempt. Remember between now and Boston 2009 there are several marathons that you could use to qualify - Gold Coast (Denise is doing that one), Sydney( I am planning to do that one if I survive this one) and others, so relax and take this one as it comes, just for fun and you never know how it may shape up. If the worst comes to the worst you can always hang at the back of the pack. At least you'll be among fab friends!
But seriously, you'll be in our thoughts come Sunday morning. Rest and recover quickly. Don't forget that this one is only the beginning.

Oh Leonor, I am so so sorry to hear about your injury. I will certainly offer a few prayers for your Sacral Illiac Joint.
BUT it is only an 8 day rest. Tom (Tank Engine) had six weeks out in is '05 Canberra programme and still ran sub-4 hours. And John from this MTG is not long back after 4 weeks out and he says the legs feel better for the rest. So I have absolute faith that you'll make the start line.
R P G R P G R P G R P G....
It was you who passed on that technique so you will absolutely be in my thoughts on Sunday morning as I recite that to myself over and over and over...
We'll see you at Smithfield for a lovely 30km on the 26th.
Take care and rest well my dear.

PS R u allowed to do spin/cycle classes??? I find them a great way to maintain leg strength.
Hi Leonor
I am so sorry for you. Just to let you know that before Sydney I had 2weeks off 6 weeks before Sydney. I did some water running in that time (as I am now). What does your physio think about that? I will give you a call.
(Ps everyone I am going to the Striders Run rather than Smithfield so I will see you at Easter..)
That really sucks, I'm so sorry. I believe you can still do it. Rest up for 8-days and stay focused, as the mind is a wonderful tool in healing. I had an injury that put me out for a month, but my body and mind adjusted and came out the other side a better and rested runner. You will finish a marathon, don't worry.
Lee :o)
I'm so sorry to hear that too.
Despite the fact that we all know that with this many kilometers and that much committment you will still do brilliantly at Canberra, its tough to see when its you.
It isn't permanent and a break will do wonders for the legs and joints. If you consider that you were able to run 30km last Sunday carrying an injury, you will easily run 42km when you've sorted out the hip problem.
Not to mention that based on your blistering performance out at the Tour de Smithfield time trial a few weeks ago you are looking good for Canberra without running another kilometer.
We'll make sure the Fab Five minus one run part of the course in missing runner formation for you tomorrow, so you'll still be there in spirit.
Keep your spirits up!
Hi Leonor, I was so sorry to hear about your injury. We all missed you today. But I'm sure the week off will refresh your mind and your spirit. Sometimes an enforced break can be a blessing in disguise. You've got soooo many miles in the bank right now that this little break will be ok. See you soon.

Thank you so so much for all your support and kind words Everyone. You're all so lovely. I thought about all of you today and I was so happy to see the beautiful weather you had, am sure that helped to keep you going. I'm really keen to know on how you went. Please let know how was is to run 35ks? Much different to run 30ks? I'd love to read about your experience ...
Saw the new movie RUN FAT BOY RUN on Friday - I loved it - what a great comedy (must try to keep my spirits up).
Have a great week everyone and thanks again for your so kind words.
